Artist Statement

Ivan Turukhano focuses on the city as an autonomous protagonist: its architectural memory, traces of time, peripheral spaces, and transitional states. His practice operates between documentary observation and directorial staging—reality provides texture and narrative potential, while the artist shapes the viewpoint, rhythm, and “light score.” A substantial part of his oeuvre is produced as large-scale panoramas and composite images assembled from multiple frames to achieve maximal detail and nuanced light structure. His visual language merges restraint with atmosphere; his cinematography background intensifies the cinematic quality of the image and introduces a sense of duration and narrative within a still photograph.

Teaching
